97.9 is the average review. Wow. Anyone that currently has it, can they mention any gameplay facets that may revolutionize the industry? 10 is mostly an unattainable score in my book save for a game that redefines a genre or creates something so new and so fresh you'll wonder how you lived without it before. [/too scared to read reviews for spoiler reasons]

I talked to my co-worker about this and he said it's as groundbreaking as Super Mario 64. Would you agree?

He was arguing that Super Mario 64 took it from side scrolling 2D action, and brought you to a three dimensional world. And he argued that Galaxy takes the 3D, but then forces you to think different as far as spatial perception. I don't know how to explain it. I think he was trying to say that instead of just up, down, left right, forward and back, you're having to think about gravity, physics, and instead of circular movement, spherical instead. I don't know. It was confusing, but that's the best I can do.

I don't know. I have to say that I don't need to think about any of that stuff because it's still just Mario. The big change is that I'm not limited to staying on the top part of the platforms and there's a bit more freedom in progressing through the game.

It's really not even close to being as groundbreaking as Mario 64.  It still feels exactly like Mario 64, just with better graphics and a different control scheme.  That's probably lowering it too far, since it really is deserving of all the high scores it's getting, but it doesn't revolutionize anything.

Exactly. It's more of an evolution than anything.

Nice bit of info on the work behind the scenes. I find the reasoning for making lives so abundant a bit ridiculous since you might as well just get rid of them, like Insomniac did for the Ratchet games, if you just want a gross amount of extra lives so casual players aren't frustrated.

I saw that a while back. If it is a coincidence, it's the greatest coincidence ever.
